Quickstart
Three things to do on day one, and three features worth knowing about once you’ve logged a meal or two. That’s it — Vertree is deliberately quiet, so most of what it does you’ll discover by using it.
1. Log a meal in a sentence
Tap Log, pick the meal — breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack — and describe what you ate the way you’d tell a friend:
two eggs, toast, black coffee
That’s the whole job. Vertree works out the foods, the amounts and
the numbers. No barcodes, no searching a database, no picking a
serving size from a dropdown. If it guessed an amount wrong, tap
the food and fix it; if you forgot something, type it into the
Add food field on the meal and it joins the plate.
Made a typo? Tap the meal’s sentence to edit it and Vertree re-reads it. Your meal stays as it was if anything goes wrong.
2. Read your day
Under the grove, five small tiles: Pull, then calories, protein, fat and carbs as a percent of your targets. Pull is the one that’s different. It measures how hard the day’s food pulls — how much it keeps calling you back, how easy it is to keep eating — and it runs from 0% (nothing pulling) upward.
Each meal also gets one of four words: Grounded, Tasty,
Tempting, Irresistible. The words are tappable. Tap one and
Vertree tells you which mix in that food is doing the pulling —
“the mix of fat + salt indicates a strong pull” — and how much of
the Pull it accounts for.
The number and the words describe the food. They never describe you. A high-Pull day is information, not a verdict.
3. Watch your grove grow
Every meal you log plants a tree. On your first days the trees fill a small circle; once it’s full, the circle starts turning, and after a week or so of days the grove opens out into a hillside where each day has its own place — today front and center, yesterday one step clockwise. At midnight the whole grove turns one notch, like a clock.
The tree’s color follows the food: grounded meals grow green, and the tint warms as the pull rises. Days you don’t log are simply gaps. There’s no streak to protect and nothing to catch up on.
Three features worth knowing early
Explore with sample data. Not ready to log? Settings → Explore with sample data shows you two weeks of a real, fully scored log so you can see what the words, the Pull and the grove look like across ordinary days. Tap around freely — it’s look, don’t log.
Pin the meals you eat all the time. Swipe right on any meal card to pin it, or use the pin button on a meal’s screen. Pinned meals lead the suggestions when you start typing, and one tap logs them again — no re-reading, no waiting.
Plan a plate before you eat it. Switch the log sheet to
Plan, describe what you’re thinking of eating, and see the pull
before you commit — nothing is logged, no tree is planted. Tap
Ground it for two or three ways to lower the pull without
ruining the dish, each with the change spelled out. Then log the
version you actually ate, or pin it for next time.
When you’d rather not describe a meal
Tap Meal Pass on the log sheet. It logs that a meal happened, plants the tree, and asks nothing else. Some days that’s the honest entry, and it counts.
